In
the first grade, students are exposed to numerous software programs
that help create and reinforce problem solving skills in a variety
of curricular areas. They write stories, make illustrations and
problem solve in conjunction with classroom activities and assignments.
The students use their knowledge of letters and sounds to make
approximate spellings. Allowing inventive spelling encourages
the students to use a large vocabulary in their writing.
