What
is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund solicits gifts each
year from parents, alumni, past parents and friends to help the Schools
meet operating expenses not covered by tuition or endowment income.
Tuition alone does not cover the complete cost of educating a student
at Schools of the Sacred Heart and the Annual Fund makes up that
difference. Tuition levels are set based on the assumption that we
will have strong participation in the Annual Fund. |
Why
Should I Give?
Tuition covers less than 83% of the
cost of educating each student. Your Annual Fund gift helps
us make up that difference.
The Annual Fund provides needed
dollars to meet recurring expenses such as curriculum development,
faculty compensation and technological support.
The Annual
Fund provides the greater Sacred Heart community with an opportunity
to further invest in Sacred Heart education. |
How
Much Should I Give?
Last year’s operating shortfall
per student was $1,936. Recent unrestricted gifts to the
Annual Fund have ranged from $30 to $30,000.
You should choose
the level that is right for your family. (A matching
gift program from your employer enhances the value of your
gift.)
Whatever the size of your gift, your name will
be listed in next year’s Annual Report and gifts
from all levels count toward our goal of 100% participation. |
Why
is Participation
So Important?
Foundations look at Annual Fund percentage participation
as a significant criterion for funding. Bond rating agencies look at
Annual Fund participation as an indicator of financial stability.
Our
reputation for fiscal excellence, as evidenced by Moody’s recent
reaffirmation of our investment-grade bond rating, is enhanced by the
generous response to the Annual Fund from our parents, alumni and friends.

What
is the Director's Club?
The Director of Schools and the Board
of Trustees established the Director’s Club to recognize donors
who give a personal unrestricted gift of $2,500 or more to the Annual
Fund. (The Coeur Circle begins at $5,000, the 1887 Circle at $10,000,
the Très Bien Circle at $20,000 and the Barat Circle at $25,000
and above).
This leadership provides the extra margin of support that
distinguishes Schools of the Sacred Heart as one of San Francisco’s
finest independent schools. Gifts of $2,500 or more can be matched to
the next level.
