Wine Sale & Tasting - October 8
(Just One Week From Today)!
wineJoin us in the Main Hall of the Flood Mansion next Wednesday, October 8, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. for an elegant evening of wine tasting, all to benefit Celebrate Spring 2009. Link here to review the wine offerings and to RSVP.

Several members of our Convent & Stuart Hall community will be on hand with tastes from their family vineyards. Don't miss the chance to greet Michelle Keene, David and Diana Sullivan, Julie Husic and Scott Chafen as they pour some amazing varietals from their wineries.

Among the wines available for tasting and purchase are:

Promenade's Cabernet Sauvignon is hand crafted and combines intense blackberry, charcoal, and a hint of vanilla. From the Stag's Leap region of Napa Valley, the wine has been aged for 20 months. Promenade's Pinot Noir is luscious, balancing the fruit flavors of strawberry, plum, and citrus.

The Rosso Giovani Monferrato, 60 percent Barbera and 40 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, was aged in barrique for 14 months. There are only 1,200 cases available in the U.S. market.

Montalpuno's Chianti Reserva is an elegantly structured wine that has been aged for 16 months.

Tenuta La Carlina's Brunello Riserva was awarded 96 points by Wine Spectator, which called it "Black as night; full-bodied, with loads of tannins, but ultra refined." A can't-miss choice!

Don't miss out on these and many other wonderful selections next Wednesday evening. Cheers!
Wrap Sale Deadline Extension - You May Still Order Wrap & Gift Items
wrap2You still have time to make your wrap and gift item orders. If you have trouble with the online system, you may forward your orders directly to Wrap Sale Chair Janet Bollier at 2222 Broadway; she will enter your orders. Janet may be reached at 415-298-3225 with questions. Don't miss out on the chance to stock up before the holiday season gets underway, and support Schools of the Sacred Heart at the same time!
Seconds To Go - This Week's Treasures
You will not want to miss feasting your eyes on the window display at our schools' resale shop on Fillmore Street - there are all sorts of wonderful Halloween costumes featured, which just hint at the terrific finds inside the store. Warmest thanks to those of you who have generously given your gently used Halloween costumes to Seconds-To-Go; you have supported the schools and given our shoppers the chance to take advantage of some spooky, scary, and, in some cases, sparkly outfits, perfect for their children to wear on All Hallows' Eve!

If you have a large donation that you would like to have picked up at your home, or if you are interested in volunteering for a shift at the store, please contact Lisa Gruber at lisagruber@sbcglobal.net.

Thank you for your support of our schools' resale shop!
Light Blue Arrow A Special Presentation on Uganda
Sr. Anne Wachter, Head of Convent of the Sacred Heart Elementary, will give an interesting and eye-opening presentation about our sister school Uganda. Sr. Wachter and other members of our school community traveled to Uganda this summer, and she will share with us the latest news from our fellow Sacred Heart communities in Africa.

The talk will be held on Thursday, October 9, at 6:00 p.m. in Syufy Theater.  All are welcome to attend.
Chapel Organ Available for Purchase
Perfect for an organ hobbyist or collector, our vintage Wicks organ has been a part of our school Chapel since the dedication of the space in 1940. We must now sell the piece, a beloved part of our school history, with the caveat that the purchaser is responsible for removal.

Interested buyers should contact us at directorofschools@sacredsf.org.
