AP BIOLOGY:
When students arrive on the first day
of class, they will be expected to have read, studied, and
taken notes on the following chapters in the Textbook and
Student Study Guide:
Chapters 50-55, in the subject
area of Ecology
Over the summer, students
should visit the AP Biology Web Site. This site is a comprehensive
resource including class policies, general information about
the class and the AP exam in May. There is also a week by
week agenda of topics covered in the course. It is expected
that students will be completely familiar with the class
expectations, rules, and policies at the start of AP week.
Students are required to visit the Syllabus link and view
the PowerPoint slide presentations via the internet, covering
the Ecology chapters from the Summer Reading. Students should
take ample notes from those slide shows as well as adding
her own examples from either our textbook or other resources.
For example students might use other Biology textbooks or
the web. Notes should be recorded on the Ecology notes packet.
When students arrive on the
first day of AP week, they will be expected to have read
and studied the chapters in the textbook as well as the online
slide shows: The first few quizzes in AP Biology during the
first cycle are considered to be a test not only of the subject
matter but also commitment and college level maturity that
is required for success throughout the year. Students receiving
scores below the "C" level will be asked to attend
a consultation with the instructor to discuss whether or
not she should continue with the course and whether or not
the course is in the student's best interest. During the
first cycle of the school, the summer reading chapters will
be discussed and students will take a large and comprehensive
unit exam in order to determine their knowledge of the readings.
Students should receive a "C" or better on this
unit exam.

we will work to discover the secrets of life through chemistry.
HONORS CHEMISTRY:
2005 Chemistry Summer Reading
Welcome to Honors Chemistry!!
Over the summer I would like you to acquaint
yourself with some introductory material and more importantly
the text for class next fall. It is not meant to intimidate
you, but rather to help you feel as though you are poised
for the questions and inquiry that will facilitate the discussions
we will have throughout the year. The notes you are taking
should include notes (as much in your own words as possible),
questions you would like to ask and finally any comments
or interjections you would like to contribute when we discuss
the material.
1. Please read chapters 1 and 2 and read
sections 3-1 and 3-3
2. Take notes on all reading (in own words)
3. Do the following Chapter Review exercises
