| Guidelines | ||
Basics:
Slides:
Remember: this is a presentation, not a class lecture.
Draft: Your draft should look like your Chemistry or Theology PowerPoint handouts: 3 slides per page with lines to the side for your presentation notes. You may print in color if you choose, but either grayscale or black and white is sufficient. And, if you need help, ask!
Presentation: You may use props. If you are including film clips and/or sound it is your responsibility to make sure that you have the proper links downloaded on the laptop of the teachers in your presentation room. Do NOT wait until the last minute!
Attire: You are expected to be in dress uniform on Symposium Day. |

| Presentation Check-list | ||
Have a clear sense of where and how you're starting and finishing--don't just run out of things to say and stop. Practice so that you feel comfortable with the timeframe of the presentation. Make eye contact with your audience! Be enthusiastic. You may be sick of your topic, but it's new for everyone else. Besides, by early afternoon you'll have survived Symposium and that should give you energy if nothing else does. Feel free to use notes, but DO NOT read from a script. Folks have come to see you present what you've learned over the past year, not watch you read a report out loud. Use the resources available to you: the lead teachers, Ms. Sena and Ms. Kirkbride, your classmates--anyone who can help you jazz up your slides or your presentation style. Invite your family and other folks you'd like to have share the experience with you. Again, practice! We've built time for practicing into the schedule--use it! |
