Expectations:
The expectation is that a student will contribute to a positive learning environment in the following ways:
Arrive on time.
If for any reason a student is late to class, please enter the room quietly and take out or pick-up any necessary materials in order to catch up with the rest of the class. Please do not disrupt your neighbor. If the student does not have an admit slip, she must speak with the instructor after class.
Be polite.
Please turn off and put away all
electronic devices before entering the classroom.
Demonstrate a deep respect for academic inquiry and integrity.
Complete assignments by the due date
for full-credit. The student may receive partial
credit if the assignment is turned in the following
day (whether or not the class meets). After
the half-credit will be given. If cirucumstances
beyond a student's control prevents them from turning
in their assignment by the due date, a parent or guardian
must sign the assignment and the
student must turn it in the following day
for full credit.
If a student knows she will be absent due to a school
related activity or medical appointment, it is her
responsibility to see the instructor before the
absence.
If a student has an excused absence due to illness
it isthe student’s responsibility to
find out what material was missed during the absence.
Assignments are posted online.
A student will have as many days to make up the
work as she was absent i.e., if a student was absent
for one day, the work will be due the
day after the student returns to school.
Please note: this rule still applies if the class
does not meet.
If a student has an excused absence on the day of a quiz or test the teacher will determine a test make-up date. If a student is absent the day before a test –whether excused or unexcused- they will still be responsible for taking the quiz or test on the day it is given.
If a student has missed class but is in attendance
for the rest of the school day any assignment
which is due must be turned in to Mrs. Asdourian's
office for full-credit.
A student is responsible for all of her own work. If a student is unsure of what constitutes plagiarism she should consult with the instructor.
Thoughtfully contribute to class.
This can be accomplished through regularly engaging in class discussion, staying on task, helping a fellow student, showing intellectual curiosity or simply keeping a positive attitude.
Regular attendance is imperative to success in the class; it is the student’s responsibility to know the school’s attendance policy for academic credit.
Respect the inherent value of others.
Please allow fellow students to share
their point of view without interruption.
Moreover, if a student has a different view than the
one presented she is encouraged to analyze the position
rather than merely react; however, students may always
respectfully “agree to disagree”.
Please do not socialize while another person
or the teacher is talking. A student's grade will
be affected by such behavior.
Respect the beauty of your surroundings.
Please leave the classroom better
than you found it. All food (unless given special
permission by the instructor) is to remain outside
of the classroom. The only exception to this
rule is bottled water. Please do
not chew gum in class. Please push in chairs at the
finish of class. |
