Meet the Convent of the Sacred Heart Elementary Assistants

Elena Balinbin

Having just completed her B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science, with a minor in neuroscience from USF, Elena will soon begin a credential program. She has tutored through America Reads, at St. Anthony’s in SF, and has volunteered in Belize, and has been a neuroscience intern at UCSF.

 

 

 

Julie Cook

Julie Cook, a native of San Francisco, recently graduated from Arizona State University and is applying for a California State teaching credential. She brings a passion for teaching and a strong athletic background to CES. She will be teaming with Andrea Collins.

 

Daniel Fishman

Mr. Daniel has been working with students in Bay Area schools for fifteen years. This is his fifth year as a member of the Sacred Heart Community. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Mills College in Oakland. He teaches English at the Academy of Art Univeristy, and has published both poetry and fiction. Daniel worked in the Extension program here at Sacred Heart for three years, and is excited to be part of the Second Grade team at Convent Elementary this year

Jennifer Katz

A graduate of early childhood education at Dominican University, Jennifer is currently working towards an MA in Education, and a certificate in Educational Therapy at Holy Names University. She worked for both LeapFrog and Classroom Connect, and also taught preschool.

 

 

Veronica Lani Lee

Veronica Lani Lee began working at Sacred Heart two years ago. She was a frequent substitute teacher and an Extension Teacher. Veronica has experience as an assistant recreation director with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department where she has been a dance instructor at a performing arts day camp for the past six summers. Veronica received a B.A. in Liberal Studies from San Francisco State University. Having taken a number of courses in Early Childhood Education at Skyline College, Veronica is now enrolled in the Master of Arts in Education program at S.F. State University. MIchele Leonard

Michele earned her B.S. in Child Development at Cal Poly and completed an MA in Education and a teaching credential through National University. She studied in Florence, Italy during her senior year as an undergraduate; she recently moved to the Bay Area from San Diego.

Amanda Sullivan

Amanda Raab Sullivan brings with her experience as a substitute teacher and associate teacher at San Francisco Day School. She received her BA in Environmental Science and Policy from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, during which she spent a term at the Center for Marine Mammal Studies and Biodiversity in La Paz, Mexico. Amanda received her Master of Arts Teaching and a California Teaching Credential with a specialization in Reading from the University of San Francisco in May 2006. Amanda is an avid outdoor enthusiast! Amanda will be part of the 4th grade team.

Meredith Taylor

Meredith Taylor graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996 with a BA in communications and marketing. After college, she spent several years in Manhattan working in magazine sales and marketing. Meredith moved to San Francisco in the fall of 2001 and began to pursue a career in education after wonderful experiences as a substitute teacher. She was deeply influenced by the respect and confidence in students that her independent school teachers showed during her K-12 years at the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Meredith seeks to educate the whole child with that same belief in each student’s potential. Meredith completed her MA in reading and received her California Teaching Credential from the University of San Francisco in May 2006. She has received training in Slingerland and the Lindamood-Bell programs. Meredith will work with Mimi MacArthur in Kindergarten.

.Elizabeth Wise

Elizabeth has a BA in Psychology and a minor in French from the University of Portland. She was an Assistant in a school in Oregon last year. A native of SF, she looks forward to joining CES, and beginning a credential or Special Education program in the near future.
