and checking voice mail and email when children are present is not appropriate.
When children are not present, the time is to be used for school related
duties.
- One teacher needs to be
in the classroom at all times. Notify lead teacher if you need to leave
the classroom.
- Follow the lead teacher's
system in matters of classroom management, discipline, and teaching.
- Correspondence and conferencing
with parents is the lead teacher's responsibility. No information regarding
a student should be discussed with a parent unless the lead teacher
has thoroughly discussed it with you. This includes informal conversations
at dismissal, field trips, etc.… as well as during formal conferences.
Refer parent questions and comments to the lead teacher. It is appropriate
to say, "I encourage you to talk with Mrs./Mr. about that. . ." or "Mrs./Mr.
has a better understanding of . . . I am sure that she/he
would be happy to talk with you . . ."
- Any print on display or
in correspondence needs to be neat, formed according to the style taught,
and checked for spelling.
- Discuss any lessons you
are teaching with the lead teacher beforehand, showing a written lesson
plan when requested. Facilitate instruction by teaching small

but the school is also supportive of your college work and outside interests.
- Give the lead teacher and
dean as much notice as possible when you are going to be absent. If
you are sick, call at least two people on the substitute list before
calling the teacher registry, and then contact the lead teacher as well
as the dean.
- If you have questions regarding

privately rather than in front of students or colleagues.
